History & Development

Charles Dow, was the first one to introduce Dow Theory, first one to co-found Dow Jones and Company and the first editor of the Wall Street Journal. This Dow theory is based on the many editorials and analysis of the market that he did between the years of 1897-1902. Following his death, William Peter Hamilton, his close friend continued the work.

In 1938, Alfred Cowells III started analysing the notes and concluded that Dow theory wouldn’t work in a real case scenario.

In the mid-90’s the writings of these two men were collectively published as the Dow Theory by Robert Rhea where he explained the proper way of using Dow theory under right circumstances to beat the market.
